Information and Data Management Specialist, the Grasslands Conservation Council of British Columbia

The Grasslands Conservation Council of British Columbia (GCC) is seeking an ambitious, energetic and organized individual to work as a team with the GIS Coordinator to complete the Priority Grassland Initiative. Using a recently completed provincial grassland GIS in conjunction with other data sets and the expertise of regional agrologists, ecologists, grassland experts and First Nations, the successful candidate will solicit data, manage information and deliver effective communication and facilitate a process that will identify priority areas in each of the major grassland regions across BC.  Value criteria such as rare and unique ecosystems, species at risk, habitat, grassland condition, landscape connectivity, levels of representation, forage value and risk will be applied to identify priority grassland sites. This analysis and collaborative process will yield strategic recommendations for each grassland region, supported by maps, data and other information. The information and tools produced through this initiative will be extended to provincial, regional and local governments, First Nations, and industry to inform land use planners and decision-makers, as well as achieve conservation and stewardship of BC's grasslands.
