Camosun College: Associate of Science Degree in Geographic Information Science

Come out, meet your instructors and learn more about GIS at an Information Session!
This two-year Associate Degree in Science will provide you an opportunity to develop and pursue your interest in the emerging field of Geographic Information Science (GIS). The program offers you a science option that complements the current Associate of Arts Degree in Geography. You will gain an understanding of important fundamentals in Geography, Mathematics and Computer Science.
With a solid background in geographic information science, you may find employment in environmental protection, mining and oil and gas exploration, land use planning, archaeology, or work with geographic information for First Nations peoples. Or you can pursue further study in the recently developed Geographic Information Science degree programs at the University of Victoria (UVic) and other universities. The University of Victoria has committed to accept successful students into their Geomatics Degree program.
Work Experience is Now an Option for Associate Degree Students
Starting in Fall 2008, Associate Degree programs will come with an Internship option. Students will gain practical work experience, which may be paid or unpaid, through a four-month Internship, available after eight courses of academic study.
