Lands Management Resource Coordinator

The National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA), is a federally registered non-profit organization that is Aboriginal-controlled, community-based, and membership-driven.

NALMA is accepting applications for the position of Lands Management Resource Coordinator (LMRC).

Reporting to the Executive Director, the LMRC will:

• Assist in carrying out of goals and objectives of NALMA generally.
• Support and promote the role of NALMA and Regional Lands Associations throughout Canada in encouraging, supporting and marketing technical and professional certification of First Nations Lands Managers.
• Oversee all bilingual (French and English) translation communications requirements for NALMA.
• Establish and maintain a lands and environment resource library for NALMA.
• Take lead on projects and multi-task within NALMA’s mandate
• Assume the responsibility for providing and distributing technical lands related resource information, tools, systems etc., to Lands Managers across Canada.

Location: Curve Lake, Ontario

Employment Type: Contract until March 31st, 2011, with a possibility of an extension
Start date to be determined

Language: Bilingual (French and English)

Wage/Salary: Contingent upon Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

• Must have knowledge of current and emerging First Nation Land regimes and Land Management responsibilities
• Must possess strong bilingual (French and English) oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills to groups varying from ten to several hundred
• Must possess strong organization skills
• Experience in coordination and organization of training, meetings, conferences and workshops
• Knowledge of policy issues, management principles and practices
• Must be able to effectively work independently and in a team environment
• Must be able to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision
• Must be able to operate a personal computer and use various software programs for word processing, database, and spreadsheets; a knowledge of web-based applications is preferred
• Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
• Must maintain confidentiality and ensure legislated privacy requirements are met


• Ability to communicate oral and written in French and English
• Completion of Post-Secondary certificate/diploma and/or equivalent combination of work experience
• Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to various audiences both official languages
• Represent NALMA at meetings and in communications with external groups
• Willingness to work weekends
• Freedom to travel including Saturdays and Sundays
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal check
• Three (3) letters of references must accompany resume
